Welcome to Prego! Cucina & Bar, located in the Old Fort Bay Town Centre, we offer the warm and informal atmosphere of an Italian trattoria featuring a simple and classic menu. In this relaxed setting, delicious Neapolitan-inspired pizzas are made to order in an open-view wood-fired oven and our cozy bar invites you for an aperitivo experience from our selection of great cocktails and savory antipasti.
Prego: ˈprɛːgo: the first person singular of the verb, pregare, which means to pray. In addition to "I pray", Prego, the ubiquitous and multi-contextual Italian word is the most commonly used way of replying to "Grazie" to mean " You're Welcome". A few additional meanings:
- "Don't mention it" after someone has said “Thank you”;
- An equivalent of “How can I help you?”;
- Sometimes it is used to indicate "After you";
and our favourite, a sense of 'please' when you are inviting or encouraging one to come in and make themselves at home.
